Our story

Melitron was founded in 1995 as Millennium Manufacturing with a 24,000 sq. ft. facility for metal fabrication, wet painting, and electro-mechanical assembly for electric and gas fireplaces. In those early days, the Company supplied high quality sheet metal components and integrated assemblies to leading brands such as Dimplex, Lennox and Vermont Castings.

With the offshoring trends in appliance manufacturing that quickly ensued, the Company pivoted in 1998 from consumer appliances to focus on contract manufacturing of metal enclosures and electro-mechanical assemblies for commerical electronics and electrical products.

A few short years after its founding, the Company relocated to a larger facility at the location it calls headquarters today, and rapidly scaled operations with added staff and investments in world class manufacturing automation and robotics equipment. The Company would proceed to win contracts with OEMS in aerospace, solar energy, commercial security systems, data centers, and other industrial markets.

In 2002, the Company changed its name to Melitron Corporation. Melitron continued to expand its capabilities in the years ahead with a series of multi-million dollar investments in advanced manufacturing technologies, another facility expansion that would more than double its size to 115,000 sq. ft., and the addition of an in-house design and engineering team for client consultations and Design For Manufacturability (DFM) services.

2016 was the year that Melitron made its debut in the digital signage market by winning its first contract with McDonald's in partnership with Samsung. The Company proceeded to design and manufacture one of the first Outdoor Digital Menu Boards (ODMBs) to reach the Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) industry in North America. The tablet-style design became an iconic fixture of McDonald's drive thrus nationwide.

Marking Melitron's successful run as a contract manufacturer, in 2016, Canadian Business and PROFIT magazine named Melitron to the 28th annual PROFIT 500, the definitive ranking of Canada's fastest-growing companies based on five-year revenue growth.

In 2019, Restaurant Brands International (RBI) announced a mission-critical plan to digitize all Tim Hortons drive thrus with Outdoor Digital Menu Boards across Canada. Melitron won the contract, and was later accredited with providing exemplary services, meeting aggressive installation targets from 2019 through 2022, and overcoming the many challenges that the COVID crisis presented, including labour, illness, logistics and supply chain contraints. The project completed on-time and on-budget.

Melitron made its foray into indoor digital signage with the launch of the Concourse Series in 2022. The souped-up large-format indoor displays brought digital wayfinding and advertising to leading shopping centers across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). The Concourse lineup quickly expanded to include a range of screen sizes and mounting options that would soon be found in retail stores, airports, stadiums and entertainment venues, and other indoor locales.

2025 marks the Company's 30th year in business. Melitron kicks off 2025 with ongoing long-standing contracts with leading Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMS), a stellar lineup of top brand clients and partnerships across industries, renewed contracts with McDonald's and Tim Hortons/Restaurant Brands International (RBI), and a majority market share of digital drive thrus across Canada.
